All My Chickens..... a coop opera!

8-9 weeks?!
Well that really does make it a certainty in my mind.
Compared to my Chippy at only 6 weeks. Sigh.
My journey with a rooster begins today. @WhoDatChick, like you I believe, I never wanted a rooster. But it seems I have an accidental rooster and am stressing about what to do.
Likelihood is I will keep him, but am a bit nervous about the whole thing.

Oh nooooo! I just hate that for you! And I hate it for them.. it’s really hard to rehome even you though you don’t want them😞 I personally feel there is more peace in the flock without them 😣

Oh, so Houdans are pretty large!
But bantam cochin are pretty small.

I have a Hamburg roo (says 5 lbs roo, 4 lbs hen, he's not that big and his daughters here are more the 3 pound sopping wet size). Of his 1st 8 offspring, 7 of them kept his size. 1 took the mother's larger size. 2 more offspring the next year, 1 averaged between the parents and 1 took aim at mother's size (standard brahma), but hasn't quite made that.

I'm watching Cookie's development with great interest. Every time @RoyalChick posts pics, I'm glued for a while.

I need to get video of her. She is a funny little soul - she hasn’t learned to walk normally (I blame the feathered feet), so she stands still and then half flies/half runs to catch up with everyone. I am not worried about that - she seems perfectly capable of getting where she needs to get but she does a lot of flapping!

Love the streaks on her breast. And the angle of this pic makes me think the front of her crest won't need a snip. That stance is 100% houdan!

She is adorable!❤️❤️

I had to put the Superstars in here today so I could monitor their eating and drinking… they did NONE of that yesterday 😬😱 I still don’t think Dolly has eaten anything! They are just terrified and sit still and don’t move much at all… and I know the cement isn’t ideal but I wanted to make sure there would be nothing hindering the food or water.. I will put shavings down once they get comfortable.

Check out the peeping Toms in back🤣
Zoom in! Hilarious!!
