All Set For Another Scorcher Here Today

Morgan7782.... Your thermometer might need some service. I have lived in Sacramento for 45 years and we have never seen a day time temp of 118° much less at night. The hottest day ever recorded was 113° on July 22, 2006 with night time temps in the neighborhood of 85-90. This was also the longest stretch of hot weather recorded at more than 11 days in a row of extreme weather. If there were an area (other than the desert) that would get hotter than Sacramento, it would be the Redding area; they saw 115° during that time. In any case, we are lucky we don't have the humidity that the midwest and east experience, or there may have been a lot more people to died from the heat.

lol not MY tempature gage. Bank Of America's temp gage read 118 at around 4pm/5pm. Also, Sacramento seems to have microclimates to where the temp will be one thing in West Sacramento, and a whole nother ball game in South Sacramento. Sorry if I was mistaken but the temp gauges for Sac City School and Bank Of American both read 115/118 at 4/5pm. That's all I know.

Anyhow! Sunday is supposed to be around 101 here in Sacramento (GDS Said this). I will be in Benecia thank GOSH though. My mom will be taking care of the chickies and I am leaving instructions on putting the frozen soda bottle outside and keeping the hose running and such. Hopefully all will go well while I am away!

P.S. Concord/Livermore get's 118 easy I believe.. In fact a few places in centeral california get hot, moreso then I would think of Sacramento or Redding.

Don't know what it hit at Sky Harbor, but it was 115 here yesterday. The chicks only go under the broody for an extra layer of shade!

I'm up the hill from you, past Auburn.

Sometimes we get the inversion layer, which makes us hotter than Sac. Last summer, we had a couple days of 115 degrees here.

Odd weather we are having this year though, so much cooler than usual. Not that I'm complaining, I love the 80-90 degree temps we are currently having.

Just wait till tomorrow Chooks! It's supposed to be hot hot hot. I hope my girls will be O.K. I got breeds specific to handle warm weather good (except the wyandottes but they are inside right now) so hopefully everybody will be good. My backyard always has plenty of shade thanks to the dense foliage and trees, and they have plenty of water

I called just out of curiosity to see what our town's official temp was and it is now 92 with an expected hi of 100, but under my house it is only 90

But fortunately the grass catch is on and the birds are getting the cuttings.

That's exactly what I was thinking until about 20 minutes ago...

Thunder rolled and lightning started while I was working on the boat...made the mad 100 yard dash to the cover of the porch just in time to see lightning nail a tree across the road. poor chickens were in the yard and they went running under the deck. Ducklings got caught up in the downpour and headed under my truck just in time to avoid the golf ball sized hail falling from the sky.

Dang! North Carolina weather is NUTS! It is so crazy to think somewhere else has such different weather as this exact moment then I do. The weather here is beautiful blue blue skies, no clouds, suuuuun galore!
