All Set for January 4th (Its over...)

Good Idea on the heating pad! I have one around here somewhere.

Loading up the kid and locking up the dog are not good ideas right now for running 20 minutes to TSC. But I would if I could!

Going to look....

this is so "ER" like...I hate having to be so busy at work I can't watch every minute?

Ok....why dont you go get the hen & bring her inside & put her in a box with them so she is forced to sit on them....also, I would hold out for 2 more days just incase they are late because of low temperatures....that does happen often

I just got back on this morning. Bless your heart, vfem. I hoping this works out well for you and you get some babies after all this. And when it's all said and done, I'd be tempted to give the mama a good stern talking to about leaving those babies! I'll be watching and waiting with you. Hoping for the best. I think there still could be hope b/c of the low temps, too.

Ok, forget the heating pad, it spiked to 104 and I ran in to save them. I have it steady at 98 now and I'm leaving it!

I opened another one that smelt funny and it stopped development the first week and was long gone.

So there are now 6 I doubt will make it. But my heart is swelling with hope anyways!

BTW, those broody hens I had started back in NOV. on those nests! I am SUPER proud of them for sticking with the eggs this long. They deserve a break after all this!

Didn't even hook up the pad yet... that was from the 75 watt bulb alone!

I don't know.... I'm not feeling so good about this, but I'm trying to step back and give them at least another day.

Well good. I wonder though if the heating pad wouldn't be as harsh a heat. more of a surrounding heat like the mothers. Maybe if you dont see any change by tomarrow then you could try that.
