no, here its the backyard in the back of the house and the front yard in the front and sometimes there's side yards but i dont hear that used very often. You could also just say yard.
you just need good soil and it'll be pretty easy. Like, REALLY good soil. It took 2 years to prepare the dirt for my garden but when it was done, it was really easy to garden and i was getting great stuff out of it
