After I read the series starting with "Tomorrow When the War Began" (John Marsden), I always think about it being invaded and New Zealand having to come to its rescue

They are fantastic books and brought the area to life for me. But, now I can't hear Australia without jumping immediately back into the world that series created.

On another note & in the immortal words of Vizzini:"Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me..." & so, "The Princess Bride" brought to my attention as a youngster Australia's shared stereotype with the US - both the US and Australia are populated by England's shipped off criminals, right?

Well, John Marsden did a really good job describing the landscape - but still, that's in the REALLY rural areas. Agreed, though, they're awesome books

I think about Box Jellyfish when I think of Australia and how scared I am of them! I'd rather swim with sharks than those nasty things! I also picture that kid who threw the big party and got on the news. If you haven't seen the video it's super funny:
I also think of funnel web spiders, snakes, Steve Irwin, Aborigines, kangaroos and koala bears:)
I would love to visit there sometime, I also want to see New Zealand. Is it true Australians and New Zealanders have a feud?
