The feed is 24%. Do you have a suggestion for a good quail food? It is from Tractor supply and does say quail on the label somewhere and the clerk there said for quail too. If there is something better for them, I can switch. Currently I have a big fat 10 month adult cotornix who has been on this always. Where I live theres not much to choose other than to go online to buy.I would be willing to bet the farm, it's a vitamin deficiency! Please keep us posted. And as suggested, just feed a complete and balance feed ration of 24% protien. They do not need anything else.
In responding to 007Sean in a post above. This is the other chick who recover after the first treatment along with the cotornix chick. Aside from a scaly patch on the face, which I’ll apply some of the antibiotic cream now, this button and the cotornix are doing well.

Don't know if you have a feed store/mill close by but if you can find it, Jupee is a good brand of gamebird feed. I use to feed it before I started having my feed custom milled. The feed is 24%. How did you determine it was a staph infection?I must say that although I dont want sick chicks, this is a good learning experience and hope others who are not all that experienced take note. I know from being a physician that staph and stept infections can quickly get out of control. It’s like a wild fire, and moves quickly. It can become quite dangerous. I can now imagine how a flock can have infection spread quickly too.
I will look for it. Thanks. We dont have much here. There is a small co-op farm supply local and I’ll ask. I do have to make the 50 mile drive to city next week. Maybe it will be there. Purina makes Dumor brand for TSC. I have heard good and bad about the feed but I have no firsthand knowledge of their feed.
Similar look to human skin/folliculitis infection. Yellow, caked up, peeling skin almost like the look of scalded skin and responded to antibiotic cream. How did you determine it was a staph infection?
But I also admit that I’m no vet. Human physician, but definitely not a vet .How did you determine it was a staph infection?
Ahh, I understand that fully, I'm neither a vet nor physician but had to have alot of pre-med, pre-vet classes when obtaining my degree in Marine Biology. But I also admit that I’m no vet. Human physician, but definitely not a vet .
