My brother and his wife are in a very similar situation, sans the feuding. They have tried and tried to sell their house, but the property values have plummeted and their neighborhood isn't what it used to be.

I have always hated subdivisions, only lived in one, and left in 1988. I hope you're able to leave soon. Now might be a better time to sell than later.

I read what the neighbor wrote. How incredibly juvenile! I feel for the people who take your place. Keep us posted on your real estate appointment!!!

I am in a similar situation. We live in a subdivision and I am longing to move to a property with acreage! We have horses we board very reasonably in a town about 15 miles away. I am also keeping my chickens there! I want some land! Our home is close to be payed off, we just need to find the right property for us. I look every day...keep your fingers crossed!

Oh boy henmama, I wouldn't last 5 minutes with crazy neighbors like that!

We moved just over a year ago to our property. We technically live in a subdivision about 25 miles from town. We have a homeowners but they are pretty much defunct and the only thing they do is mow the riding trails anyway.

Everyone here has between 2 and 40 acres and we are allowed to pretty much have anything (animal wise) we want. Technically we are only allowed to have cows and pigs for 4h projects, but I'm not sure anyone is checking.

My kids - age 16 and 9 when we moved, adjusted just fine. They are homeschooled though - so changing schools wasn't an issue. My son's new best friend lives next door - they have two alpacas who chat with our donkeys and a pool! Woot!

Even though I have to drive 25 minutes to the safeway and 30 minutes to the Wal-mart I would NEVER go back.

Anyway - I love love love it here, was the best move I've ever made, and I am praying for you to get your chance as well.

GOOD LUCK on Friday and take a BUNCH of pictures!

The first 13 years here were fine, it's last 3 that have been bad... and getting worse.

My youngest two are being homeschooled, but my middle son is starting public high school in the fall. If push came to shove, I absolutely would pull him right out and homeschool him again though!

Thank you everyone for the kind words, thoughts and prayers. Friday can't get here fast enough!

If you really want out then take a loss if necessary on the house you are in, make it a bargain to regain your sanity! Please keep us posted as to how Friday goes. Remember, you own your own property out there and you can always build later if that is what you want.

I couldn't stand it if I even thought that I would have to live in a town again.
