If I didn't have dogs, I would carry my pistol or one of my shotguns. My dogs protect the birds from snakes, raccoons, possums, ect. I protect the chickens from the dogs...

DH and I carry a gun at night when locking up..we also do a walk an hour after they've been locked up to see what's trying to get in..we get fox,coons, cats..which we don't touch..but the other night we walked outside and there was a coyote 15 ft Fromm our front door of house....we take no chances..we have 3 live traps set all the time too...winter is desolate nothing. Comes around

I've hard a story where a bear ripped up someones coop in the middle of the night and killed all their chickens.

NICE! I went on my first hog hunt last spring...now completely hooked! Guess in the Southern part of Oklahoma they got'em pretty bad....but land owners are wanting an arm and leg to go take them...I got some land...just no hogs, lol. (Guess that's not a bad thing though, hear they pretty much destroy any they get on)

i carry my 22 and for nights i have a baby monitor in one coop that lets me know if anything at all gets into any of them we've had coons and possums and both were dispossed of
