Hullo folks,
I was just a normal career girl, teaching Feldenkrais in NZ, Oz and the US when I went to pick up bag balm at a local feed store and saw my first --Aracaunas (1996) and fell in love. Designed my own Chicken Palace, never trimmed wings and had one girl flying 30 ft up to the top of my Ponderosa Pine. the only remainder is a second generation rooster, now 16 years old & still handsome. After his auntie passed, a kind lady gave me two of her retired hens to keep Ginger company.
BUT just on week 4 with four new Americauna girls and am concerned about integrating them into the seniors in my coop. Sigh. Any tips? Have kept the teenagers in my office on top of a filing cabinet where my woof cannot reach them. Getting a bit old, despite walkies and cleaning.
Am also concerned how cool can the nights be and still be safe for this chicks? Am building a small coop for them--to place inside the much more secure coop--but don't know what the safe temp is. Thanks!
