Unfortunately, he dropped dead on Wednesday afternoon for no apparent reason. He was crowing and strutting in the yard that morning chasing grasshoppers with the rest of them. When I checked on the birds that afternoon they were all in on the inside of the house but I did not see him. When I opened the door to the laying boxes, he was there dead as a door nail. He had not set up and was still limp. No injuries at all.
He was a beautiful bird and would have been a great protector of the girls do to his size. We will miss Ladyhawk Hawkeye.
Actually we are in central Texas but thank you very much for the offer. Very kind of you. Well he was actually supposed to be a she so his replacement will be a hen (hopefully).
