Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Looking good so far! I love it when the roos still have their cotton beards. For a sec there I though you had brown reds too!

Thank you for your response! Ha yeah no brown reds. I keep similar age groups together and I have a few black copper maran pullets in there with them for now. Does anyone have the link that shows the Ameraucana Egg color chart?

Well I have Geoffry's son Junior in with the girls. He's a looker like his daddy, but I've only seen him get frisky with two of the hens.

Once he starts crowing, I'll be taking him to a vet to get him decrowed.

I also have a splash wheaten son of Geoffry in the coop but he is afraid of all of the other chickens thus far.

I did get to see the parents of that rooster. His father and mother's legs were a little darker. Yeah I though they were a lil light too. When they were chicks they were completely pink.

I am getting some Wheaten pullets (blue and black) to go with my roo!!!! All so getting some Lav splits/Lavs pullets and roos! To go with my 2 lav splits and 3 lavs I already have, still don't know any genders yet

The lav spits are 11-12 weeks no red yet (not like my EE roos anyway) and the 2 lavs are only 9-10 weeks and then I have one bitty baby that is 5-6weeks.

So excited!

If I can ever get my hands on a buff girl or two I will be set. Finally.

I think I am going to just play with what I have now and see what I like and don't like and go from there. My main thing this year was getting layers (brown eggs) ready for next year. Just counted and I have 57 birds (2 roos and the rest are 11-12 weeks and under) so I am hoping they will be good layers. I will start hatching the first of the year again. I am not sure if these wheatens are laying they looked young but the lav and lav split looked like they were. So this gives me a jump on next year. I was not sure these lav babies would even lay till late summer

Spring is looking better now.
