Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

What has Judy, my nearly constant broody, been up to this past week?

Oh you know, just sitting on some eggs... that aren't even fertile... in January!

I have some lav eggs you could stick under her.....my incubators are both full...

My black Ameraucana hen started laying again today. I am hoping this means there is going to be an early spring!

@ Jeremy - I have a bantam Cochin that hasn't even begun laying, or laid two eggs, before she went broody. She's sitting on about 9 fertile eggs. I say 'about' because she keeps stealing the other girl's egg!

My little wheaten pullet laid me a blue egg today... her first! She was about 20-22 weeks when I got here the first of Dec. I am in shock! Wheatens = bad layers, late layers Was SOOOOO not expecting an egg! I must get her a roo... soon. Blue Wheaten is preferred...

Bad picture sorry it was taken under fluorescent lights so kinda yellowed

Post her picture. Is she pure?

Yes she is pure.... I asked how old she was and she could not remember. ....

I have some from about a month ago... not sure if she is in this pic ..... and not sure who laid it.... they are in a pen in my shop all alone and no one in the shop is laying so it is not a mistake.

Henny, that's a nice look head shot. Nice clean hackles for the most part. Comb seems nice too. Nice eye color. Love to see the rest of him.

God Bless,

Thanks.
Someone asked for a head shot so that's all I took of him this morning. I need to move him along since he's a product of several generations of line breeding. I want to outcross but keep several of his sons for future use that came out of my blue blue blue egg layer.

Here's that first chocolate ameraucana project chick almost all grown up.

Beautiful!! and makes me super excited for my eggs from you in my incubator!

All 14 of my Chocolate Project Ameracauna eggs developed - and they shipped from Wa to Ohio!! 100% development is awesome for shipped eggs! Sadly, 1 egg developed a blood ring so I had to remove it, but the other 13 eggs are doing great, and have happy little chicks swimming away in them! Really praying hard that all 13 of those eggs hatch!
