Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have never had a problem with wheatens being slow-feathering. Just waitng for the beards to get solid color is my only concern.

While we're on the topic of wheatens- I got some lovely eggs from Ray_n_Debi that are Ramey line. Still hoping to improve productivity, so maybe it will help. I only have one of his so far, and she isn't laying yet.

Not sure if it's any help Cindy, but I have SQ barred rock genes in my Delaware projects, and even after 2 generations removed I get roos with such crisp barring they'll make you dizzy. I don't know anything about the K though. If you want some eggs to experiment with when I put the pen back together, just remind me.

Thanks Amy! Seriously, though, I'm not taking on another "project"--I just know K is specifically used as a tool by those serious about barring so someone with that background and experience should be able to answer some of my questions about slow feather, as it pertains to my lav project.

I'll leave the barring conquest to you

What has Judy, my nearly constant broody, been up to this past week?

Oh you know, just sitting on some eggs... that aren't even fertile... in January!

I took pictuers of my wheaten cock this morning. His beard is a little wet so there is more white down showing through than normal but the pics turned out pretty nice. Thought I'd share.
