Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Fun project update! This is the first time hatching the lav cuckoos that I have seen a clear head spot- and its yellow like the belly down is sometimes. I also hachted my first round of golden cuckoo and golden blue cuckoo (or would that be blue crele?) from my own GC marans, and a bunch of mottled anconas. What a colorful grow-out pen this is going to be!

AHHHHHHHHHHHDORABLE wee ones Amy!

I want to see pictures of your Golden Blue Cuckoo Marans as they grow.

I know! I am so excited to have accidentally made them!

I am betting that gbc one is a boy, but that's ok. Hoping the lav cuckoo is too.
Just a few more days and I will be putting one of Crystalcreeks's roos in the lav and split pen, and we'll be back to business as usual. Until somebody goes broody, anyway!

I'd like opinions on this cockeral.
I bought him to cross to my linebred line. My current cock has a gorgeous beard and as you can tell.......this-new-guy-doesn't. :(

Does the rest of him make up for the beard issues???? Or should I keep looking?
He usually has smoother lines but my dogs were interested in him so he was a little freaked out and rushing around.

He is about 8-9 months old. I'm not crazy about him either to be honest. His type is much different than my current cockeral who is stockier but just looks pleasing to the eye. This one looks more showy/smoother lines but more lanky and I absolutely hate his temperment. I don't know how much of that to blame on his genetic personality or how he was raised with practically no human contact. I hand raise all of my birds, treat them all like pets until they go out to pasture so they are all VERY friendly. This guy literally freaks out when you look at him. The dogs were like.. what's his problem as he ran and ran the fence line because they were there.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and try to get better photos next weekend if the weather is good before I do anything.

In the mean time...... if anyone knows of a REALLY good Wheaten Ameraucana cockeral/cock please let me know! I will pay to ship a really nice one in. I thought this guy woudl be nicer, he came from a show breeder who picked him and I did ship him in. oh well.........

Well, I finally got some new photos of some of my guys today! It was super windy, and muddy, but it was nice to be out taking pictures. Please excuse thier condition, especially the Lavender Pen's tails. Silly birds are roosting on a beam about 5 inches away from the chicken wire behind them

. Not everyone (including my split rooster) wanted to come out and play today, but here is a sampling.

My Blue and Splash Pen didn't get a turn outside today :(

I agree- the blue silvers are certianly eye-catching!

I do believe that I made a pullet that color, or something very similar. I *think* mine is a result of blue tailed buff over salmon (wheaten)
