Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Last spring, I purchased wheaten Ameraucana eggs from a breeder and only one bird hatched. What came out of the egg was not a wheaten Ameraucana. I posted photos on this thread, and everyone agreed that either the breeder's Maran's rooster jumped into the pen, or there was some other strange accident.
She finally laid an egg now, and it is the most beautiful blue, which makes me think she did not cross with the Marans. While I really do not know anything about breeding, I did read something about an erminett gene on the ABC forum. It says one copy results in spotted legs (which mine has). Can this gene be hiding in someone's breeding stock and then suddenly make an appearance? I understand that my bird is considered an EE, and that she is not suitable for breeding Ameraucanas. I am just trying to figure out where this strange bird came from.
Here's what she looks like, along with a photo of her egg:

I appreciate any feedback!

none the less she is one pretty chicken. I would contact the breeder though as well.

Thanks. I do think she is pretty. And since only one egg hatched, it's not like I have anyone to breed her with. This was my first attempt to hatch wheatens.

I will notify the breeder. I do believe she has true wheaten Ameraucanas. She said she got her stock from pips&peeps and pea chick. She posted photos (I realize she could get photos anywhere).

I know of at least one person on here who hatched these eggs, although with poor hatch rates. So I suppose I should contact them as well, and see what their birds are like.

I am not out to bad mouth the breeder. I'm just trying to figure out how these things happen.

At what age do Lavender Ameraucana's start laying. Either mine are hiding them or not laying. The Marans I hatched with them have been laying for about 3 weeks now. Just wondering if I have to go for this mad egg hunt, before it brings a slew of skunks in my yard.

I would test breed her just for the heck of it. Black copper marans roo would be a good mate.

My lavs start anywhere from 6-8 months. It depends on where you live, when they hatched, and other factors as well.
Marans have always matured faster for me than the ameraucanas.
They hatched 2/16. I live Ohio maybe any day now. I will look at their faces
