Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Have you contacted the person you got the eggs from? She is not wheaten.... she looks splash, just splash. I would not use her except in my EE Pen. Whatever she is she is not correct for an AM.

Why do you say she "is not correct"? What am I missing? She looks like a text-book splash Ameraucana to me. (I would readily use her in a blue pen .... )

It's because the hen hatched out of a wheaten egg.
I either forgot or didn't keep up on the thread, but someone reminded me that Jean said her stock occasionally throws a white bird with spotted legs, which would explain what happened.

Yes both of those reasons. Spotted legs and she was supposed to be wheaten.... to me the origins of the bird are in doubt there for I would not use her.

If I have EE and Ams hatch at the same time (my EE are solid most of the time) when the tags come off, they become EE.... better safe than sorry at my farm.

I'm angry/ and sad at the same time. I'm working (and spending) to get to Puerto Rico good ameraucana stock. I started buying EE's but learned the difference quick because I have a thirst for learning. And I find out someone selling EE's (unknown mix here also) telling everyone that they are ameraucanas also known as easter eggers. I sended him a personal messege to let him know that is a big mistake and guess what...I am respecful and send him links of the ABC and a table I found with a comparison between the araucana, ameraucana and a EE and even a link to BYC and this thread an he just instructs me telling me they are the same.I sended a PM because did not wanted to expose his error in a public way to give him a chance to learn. I wrote him today again explaining with a more basic info (wikipedia) to see if he understands but I'm starting to think he knows and is just ripping people off. I don't want to write something public in his selling page in facebook to let know the buyers but it angers me that he is creating a missconception of a breed new to Puerto Rico so he is setting a bad foundation for the breed here. I think he has hatchery stock and maybe there is his error...

i'm just venting because I don't have friends that raise chickens so no one here will understand how I fell.

Vent away. I'm pretty sure anything you post on his facebook can be remove by him. Did you buy eggs or chicks?

I buyed eggs from peachick, from DMRippy, and i'm waiting for chicks next year from blehm...I got eggs from a few other people but nothing hatched so It does not matters.

Just don't buy from him. You won't go wrong with peachick and DMRippy. They have nice birds and are honest. I hope your venture goes well. Michele

I have EE too that I bought from a seller in PR. She sold them as Ameraucana too. But I honestly don't think she knew any better. I have a feeling mine are hatchery birds because of the green legs. I also ordered pure Ameraucana eggs. a few of mine hatched... and I have a few more in the bator too.. Here's to PURE Ameraucana Chickens in Puerto Rico...lol

:)
