Look at the souls of its feet, what color are they? Not a definitive thing but will help. I don't breed for yellow skin in my EE.

I tried vent sexing... Hahahaaa! Yeah. No. I don't think so. Maybe in a couple of days once I watch a YouTube video or something. The duck video made it look so darn easy.

So, does this pullet look like a Silver Ameraucana or just an EE? She is suppose to be an Ameraucana. Opinions please.

While it may be silver the columbian gene is involved.Typical EE color. Many of us keep a few around.A true silver chick is striped with none of the irregular black marks around the eyes. Those marks and the breast color says columbian gene to me.

I am not 100% sure, but I think he SHOULD have some red in his tail feathers. I THINK that is what Jean said at one point.

NOT POSITIVE..... anyone else know on that point??????

The link that was posted for the topic of tail color was referring to the black in the pullet/hens tails. So, in case you're still wondering, no there should NOT be any red in the tailfeathers on the males. There should be some reddish shafting but not in the actual feathers themselves.

God Bless,

Ok Ameraucana experts, I need some advice please! I know this little rooster is an EE because his color is wrong, but I was just wondering are there any other faults you can see on him that bar him from being Ameraucana? Also what would you call this color? Splash? Much appreciated! This guy is somewhere around 5 months old.

Since you have already established that this young fellow is an EE and not an Ameraucana (his colour alone would DQ him from a show, for example) any other things he may or may not have in common with Ameraucanas are really irrelevant. Because he is a "mutt" his colour really doesn't have a specific label, any more than he does. You could make a more educated guess at the genes involved and, therefore, what is making up his colour, by knowing what colours went into him.

Whatever he is, he IS very pretty!
