Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I hope I get a roo or two that look like that! I have 10 blacks from Paul Smith coming in the Spring..... SO EXCITED!

Great JOB DAX!
You might want to order more..... I ordered 15 this time around and only got two cockerels. The other cockerel not bad either. Number 2, as I call him, has a fuller beard and better comb and better sheen, but is slower to mature.

I am ok with that.... 2 roos would be perfect! I ordered 30 for me and 10 for Amy. Blacks, Lavs and Wheatens. I only want the black for the Lavs, not really breeding blacks.... well just a little bit. I can always order more in 2014 if needed or buy a started pair. I am hoping I will not need to add to my Ams Flock after this

but time will tell.

Hello all!
These kids just hatched yesterday morning. My first *successful* hatch after many tries. (Sorry about the poo).

They were labeled as LF White Ameraucana. I have a couple questions for the experts (I'm so new it isn't funny).
A couple look grayer more than yellow. Are they white? Or would they be lavender or splash or blue or something else?
Also, some have really pink looking feet/legs. Will they darken to slate? Some have darker feet/legs that might darken to blackish?

I just got some black ameraucanas and have had some EE's already this season. So they will be loved and treasured regardless. I have never had this breed so young! so am learning a lot as I go.

Thank you in advance. I appreciate your time and opinions...

I have a question regarding breeding. I have two pure white Ameraucana and two white EE's. The EE's have the green legs, my Ameraucana have the slate legs. I have a male and female of each. If I breed my EE roo to my Ameraucana pullet, what will I get? EE's? What about vice versa, my Ameraucana roo over my EE pullet?
whats in the easter eggers?
I would breed the two pure ones together

All should feather white.Ameraucanas are usually recessive white but there are also some dominate whites around.Dominate whites hatch yellow.Recessive whites when based on black hatch smokey.Recessive whites can also hatch white and even yellow depending what color is under the white.2 copies of recessive white can turn any color to white.Legs should darken as they get older. My guess is they are a diverse gene pool of recessive whites. Some may be based on wheaten as wheaten hatches yellow.Hope this helps.
