Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Thanks for your reply! I don't know what went into this bird, I got him in a trade from a friend and that friend got him from someone else lol. He has some good EE qualities I think (muff/beard, slate legs, pea comb) so I'll put him in my EE program and see what happens!

Well your last picture looks like he may be a lavender wheaton or some type of lavender with cream(which would be red on a black bird). You will have to test mate him to be sure. Could be some type of blue but he is very diluted and would appear more to be lavender. Have fun with him. IT really depends on his original origin as to where he came from.

Posting these here because I find it impossible to post pics on the ABC forum.

10 LF Ameraucana entered (3 exhibitors) in the Open show. Four Corner Poultry show.

7 Black, 2 Blue Wheaten, 1 Lav.

My 7 month old Smith cockerel.

My son's LF Ams in the Youth show.

I have a question regarding breeding. I have two pure white Ameraucana and two white EE's. The EE's have the green legs, my Ameraucana have the slate legs. I have a male and female of each. If I breed my EE roo to my Ameraucana pullet, what will I get? EE's? What about vice versa, my Ameraucana roo over my EE pullet?

Clare,
AKA Dak,
That male is extremely nice. He definately represents Paul's birds. You are very lucky to have him for your breeding program. Nice pictures and a very nice young gentleman you introduced into the hobby. I am sure you had a great day or two at the show. I am sure you made some nice friends also. Good luck this season coming, I am so happy you have taken on the lavender challenge.

That's a terrible looking black and you should just pack him up and send him to me so I can cull him for you.......

That means alot from both of you! I'm working my way through every mistake a breeder can make and I appreciate the incouragement. I look forward to breeding the Black cockerel to the Lav pullet. Holding my breath on her first egg.

I hope I get a roo or two that look like that! I have 10 blacks from Paul Smith coming in the Spring..... SO EXCITED!

Great JOB DAX!
