Not a tiny egg either

Wasn't tiny cuz she's been holding it in so long!!

I'd say it looks like there's a good chance she's carrying the Dun gene! She's a pretty girl.

Do you have any solid Black (or Blue) roos? Putting one over her would increase your odds of hatching solid Dun chicks (solid chocolate colored) The would probably have some color leakage due to whatever else she is carrying but that can be cleaned up in subsequent generations. All you need is 1 solid-ish (

) Dun bird, then you can outcross and outcross and outcross to Blacks until you get the color right.
I'm jealous!

Shoot, I don't have a black or a blue rooster, nor room for another project either

Sounds like they would be really pretty too!

Hello Everyone,
Well we did it. We got our Wheaten Roo at the Stockton, CA show from Sky High Poultry in WA. I am amazed by how far some of those birds traveled! My daughters 4-H project has been launched and we will be selling day-old Wheaten/ Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas around April. Does anyone have suggestions for how to best go about advertising this?

If you are interested, this is her website link (inspired by Sky High Poultry's young entrepenuer!) http://gabeyssmartchicks.weebly.com/ameraucanas.html

You are going to want to ship more than five chicks per order unless you have heat packs. The minimum I ship without a heat pack is 15 during the warmer months.

Just start local and work your way out from there.

PS I don't sell my chicks for $10.00 each and I have been breeding for quite a while.

I sell chicks on Craigslist locally.
With only 2 hens I don't suppose you have a large number of chicks hatch at a time so that will limit how many chicks you can ship. I do not ship chicks as if they arrive dead I think the seller is obligated to replace the chicks or send a refund.

Hey there, fellow Ameraucana lovers!

I am in love with the breed, myself, despite the fact that every Ameraucana roo I've owned turns out mean---what's with that?---but I was wondering if any of y'all have any pictures of BBS ameraucanas. If so, please do post 'em here for me to see.

I would love to breed BBS Ameracaunas. I figured that if I had a black roo and a splash hen, and a blue hen, I could get a nice mixture of BBS. Any ideas on this?

Would love to know what you think of my plan. :)

I was hoping someone here could help calm down my expectations. :)

I (finally got around to) joined the Ameraucana organization. Sent my app in via email and paid the family membership via paypal (about 11 days ago), but haven't gotten any kind of response. Does it take a while for the app to get processed?

I know - patience is a virtue, it just doesn't happen to be one of mine. ;)
