Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I got her from a breeder, he said he bred his birds for their color, and eggs. I didn't see the mother, but the dad was a black rooster.

From the picture, she looks like a blue Ameraucana. Pretty girl : )

I would hate the confirmation that you have an Ameraucana to go uncelebrated!

Thank you! She really is a sweet bird, I wasn't overly excited about her egg color, but she was a great addition nether less =) Do you think she's show quality?

That I would not dare to say. I am still learning and showing is not a goal. Breeding good birds is though, and THAT will begin in a few weeks. I'm sure there are many many more lessons for me!

Hello - I have a question as to the rooster I bought today. I went my local farm store today (pretty soon my hubbie will not let me stop there for any reason

) and they had a rooster they said was an "Aracauna" and he was so pretty and sad I had to bring him home. They raise their own chicks there and there were some quite larger roosters with him. Anyway just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas about what color he is and what breed he might be.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to know if there is anyway to tell if my rooster is a pure Ameraucana, when I bought him I was told that he was from the breeder in marana and that he's a blue wheaten but the girl didnt have a ticket that said he came from the breeder. Thanks :)

He is definitely not a pure bred Araucana they have ear tufts not the muff and beard! He has really pretty coloring! Does he always hold his tail down? That was really nice that you decided to give him a home!

DCBA Flock - Thanks for the reply. I just got him yesterday and so far is holding his tail down, but not sure if it will always be like that or if it was because he was kind of picked on. They had some really huge roosters and they said he liked to just hang out in the hen house by himself all the time.

I'm still learning a lot myself! I have a Araucana chick I just picked up from a breeder so I have done a lot of reading about them! It can be very confusing!

He's an easter egger. Pretty close to blue wheaten in coloring though; he's a bit dark. He has yellow skin, you can just see it at the bottom of his feet.

Is this supposed to be a bantam or large fowl? If they came from the same breeder, I would say ee. She looks like an ee to me from what I can tell. The photo is pretty far away. Can you get a closer shot?
