Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hi... I'm new to the ameraucana thread :-) I have a question... And maybes its been answered somewhere, but I'm not ready to read all 19000 posts(lol)

If you get chicks from a wheaten roo over black hens, they would still be purebred ameraucana right? Even though they might not be a Showable color??

You will get mixed answers on this, I think it is, because it is genetically still an ameraucana.

I think you have a better understanding of the breeding of true Ameraucana's than those that answered your original question,,,,,yes they would be very nice EE's

So with are there any of the ameraucana varieties that involved one color roo over a different color hen?

And how/where can you get that kind of info??

So a wheaten roo could cover wheaten, or blue, Or blue wheaten hens?

yes, since these colors breed true 50% of the time

if you haven't checked out the club website for info;

http://ameraucana.org/

you have to be a member to ask questions on the forums but you can read all of the previously posted info,,
