Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

No,

A wheaten cock bird could only cover a wheaten  or blue wheaten.

Blues and blacks can be bred together also not with the wheaten varieties.

Thanks! I've got a handle on gsd color genetics, but they have nothing on the complexity of chicken genetics:) :p I feel like I may be asking a lot of silly questions for awhile ;-)

So, if Carolyn's dash is a boy, he might come to my house.... He's from cowgirlgrace....

My two black/wheaten pullets(we'll call them EE's) are from Logan miller in bend Oregon, I think they are just experiments for him :) to see what color comes of it .... He's not selling them as Americaunas, FYI....I just called him about Americaunas and that is what he had going.

If I'm wanting to breed at all(just for myself) I should see about getting a wheaten or blue wheaten from a line other than ccg's? Right?

Well this is my first time with a ameraucana chicken. I came across one at the local farm store someone bought it for easter pictures and returned it and my buddy gave it to me. Well my question is will this little chick be okay with my naked neck chicks?

Chickens are fine with other chickens. However, the chances of getting an Ameraucana chick from the feed store are very very slim. What they call Americauna at the feed stores and hatcheries are actually a mixed breed, what they call Easter Eggers on this site. You probably have an Easter Egger - which are great chickens and lay different colored eggs. Please check this link:http://www.ameraucana.org/ and see if your chick matches the proper colors for Ameraucana. You can also join us over here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/273489/the-ee-braggers-thread and see if your chick matches these. Either way, they can live with any other chicks with no problems.

Hmmmm..... now I'm confused. Why would you need a wheaten or blue wheaten from a line other than CGG's? What am I missing?
