Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I'm going to check and see if his muffs and beard are that color when not in the sun. Deb says he stays in a lot because it is to hot during the day out birds siesta a lot during the heat of the day. Maybe it doesn't take much to sun burn them kinda like our horses manes. I am gonna check maybe photograph him in the shade too...:/

ops replied without a comment. i thinkyou black is very pretty. i am not very experienced and not hreat critiquing lol

It's ok! You still know what is pleasing to you! I think he is pretty too, it doesn't mean he is appropriate for breeding but I think he is lovely...he will be outta here if not a good candidate for breeding. He gets rehomed.

Hi guys, I hatched out three Blue Wheaten/Wheaten Ameraucanas and they are 3 weeks old. These were from eggs from A BYC member who is very reputable, so there is little doubt in my mind that they are not Ameraucanas. I was hoping that maybe some of you who know the breed really well can back up my thinking on the sex of these little buggers, lol.

I think 2 is a boy.

I see boy ,boy, girl on 1st look. Darker Neck feather quills and colored stripes down spines helped me find boys early in my set. The boys were "prettier chicks" but feathered in slower than the girls. People here are great tho. I posted my baby wheatans and just about every "guess" was 100% accurate so far -10 weeks mine are now (i am still guessing- not as confident in some with out a screaming pink comb or crow lol!)

I hope that when the sex of your chicks becomes obvious, you'll post the original pics and the after pics so novices such as myself can improve out sexing skills. Thanks.
