Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

You are right, Jean. The chick on the far right does have green legs. That one is a blue EE out of my blue Gardner roo and the white EE in the picture. The splash on the left is the only ameraucana out of that hatch. When they are bigger, most of the EEs will get sold. The rest will go into my LF pen. The little splash will go into the ameraucana pen if it is a girl. All of the boys will get sold. Actually, most of the boys will get paired up with EE pullets and I will try to sell them that way. If they don't sell as pairs, then my old farmer neighbor has agreed to buy them and sell them for meat for me. He has a deal with the local ethnic communities. Win win for everyone.

The real ameraucana in that picture is on the left. I need to hop on the EE thread too, don't I?

female left - male on the right for the silvers

blue chick looks like a female so far

looks like you got a bunch of wheaten and blue wheaten pullets and then the one wheaten male there

That's what I came up with too when they started to feather out

The blue was the one I thought would be a roo when it was small-it had just huge stumpy legs but she's looking like a pullet more and more and she's just beautiful.Goes to show our year spent on a science project-wives tales and myths on sexing chicks is as accurate as we knew it was when we began but it sure was fun and the kids are chicken hooked to boot. The silver roo is getting some nice size to him not as big as the blue which is huge but a nice size...
Amy may want to strangle me..she wanted the wheaten's so I just reached in and grabbed hers and she ended up with most of the roos I only got this beautiful boy.I have him and 6 beautiful pullets
So far no chicks get a new address

Shoot us some pictures, I should be able to tell on the silvers relatively easy. The wheatens and blue wheatens will be a little harder.

Okay, here are some I took today of the silvers, all different ages. I just know you're gonna tell me all those 3 are cockerels, too!

I LOVE Silver cockerels/roosters.

I hatched these 2 little ones out a week ago (these pics are from about day 2). The breeder I got the eggs from keeps 2 ameraucana roos in with a group of Ameraucana and Easter Egger hens, so I'm just wondering if you all think these chicks look like pure ameraucanas, or EEs?

I haven't seen any Ameraucana chick photos that look like the little brownish red one, so I'm assuming that one's likely an EE?

This is really just for my curiosity's sake, btw. I got the batch of eggs as a "mixed variety" and I was just happy to find a teal and a blue egg in the batch.

If they're pullets, their destiny is to be part of my layer flock.

I can finally join this thread!
My eggs from fellow BYCer have hatched! They are BBS, but all look blue to me. (The very dark one in one of the pics is a BCM.)
DYING from the cuteness!!! Now, can they all be girls, please!????????

These are absolutely beautiful !!!
(question for Jean)Jean will the lacing come later on the light blue w/darker blue head ? or will the darker head be sufficient to be a blue and not lavender ?
Thanks
