Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Do you think they are to young for raw veggies? I tried to give them carrots and spinach today and they were affraid of it, very funny!
Awesome pic, i cant ever get my chickens to hold still! you can give them veggies whenever you want, but be careful as some veggies can be toxic. Such as raw green beans. There is a chicken treat chart on here somewhere but I dont know where it is at.

This is my pretty girl!

Quote: She is small..I would give her another 8 weeks and see if she gets larger. She will give you pretty eggs no matter what.
I did not see any leakage/pepper on her..i missed it..I looked again and it must be my computer ..I still do not see it.

My first blue egg!!!! It weighed 44 grams. The brown eggs are from my bantams--seven Silkies, one Cochin and one Plymouth Rock. The bantam crew gave me seven eggs yesterday. The Ameraucana pullet is 6.5 months old. I think it is the lavender pullet--she is the one who has squatted for the cockerels and has the reddest face.
first eggs are so exciting..pretty color ..congrats

I'll try tomorrow morning and get pictures all 6 pullets. I only hatched pullets. 2 blues and 4 blacks. The two blues do have random black spots on them and I knew that wasn't desirable. I was looking for more along the lines of comments on type. I figured it's best to "build my barn before I paint it". All comments are welcome though. I can read standards and descriptions all day long, but without getting comments on what I have and looking at other birds, I'll never get the eye for a good bird. So I appreciate the non sugar coated opinions. I like to hear what's good and what's bad. Gives me the idea of where to go.

great attitude to have and yes..you have to build the barn first...pretty paint on a falling down barn is still an ugly barn.
I have heard from old breeders (Not AM's) that a little pepper on pullets feathers is not always a bad thing to have. Some always kept one in a breeding program.

sorry about the ducks and Guineas. For some reason their morning schedule is to go to the duck pen and the Guineas follow them everywhere.
