I don't know if I metioned before but my hatch finished. . . . With 5/15 Blue Wheatens out.

The 5th one I had to help out, and ended up having some problems. Not only did part of the membrane stick to its face and is still stuck there, looking kinda red. . . But one of the chick's feet is turned inward when she/he stands on it.

The rest are doing GREAT!!

One of them I marked blue because it hatched from an amazing, perfect true blue egg with even the interior the same shade and vibrance of blue as the exterior. I also tried at vent sexing them. . . The blue marked one is a girl.

those combs are rather wide and big, I would have to say cockerals at this stage but would wait at least a few more weeks

What I don't get is why I had such poor hatch rate. . . All 15 were fertile and alive before lockdown, and I never opened the bator or anything. I pulled the ventplug now and then (shouldn't be the reason, right?) But otherwise. . . When all was done, I cracked the eggs and found dead, fully developed chicks inside. Some of them still had a lot of liquid in the egg too.

Was hoping for them all to just pop out one after the other. . . Usually Ameraucanas have great hatches for me.

Id have to guess too much humidity. I had one of my best hatches when I miscounted days and had 100% hatch in my Genesis with all the eggs still in the turner. I never added any water. Once they started hatching, they raised the humidity on their own from their wetness. Didnt even know they were in there til I heard them playing in the turner.
