Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

For those of us new to AM, could you tell why? What's sticking out to me is the comb.. But I feel sure there's more to it. Thanks.

Hi - I posted that picture to ask a question to this group because I am sure someone here would be able to answer my question...which honestly I already had come to but wanted to ask the experts. He came from what was supposed to be Blue Wheaton hatching eggs which as you can see, well I obviously was ripped off. I love ameraucanas and like to have them vs EE because I like the depth of blue in their shells. Don't get me wrong I have a couple of EE hens too but prefer ameraucanas. My kids are 7 and 5 so they like to gather a rainbow of eggs. I learned my lesson and we I'll make sure I am buying eggs from a more reputable breeder next time. Thanks for everyone's help especially Chickee who was very helpful with pictures as well as welcoming to me as a new comer to your thread. :) *RaeAnn

Awww! Such cute chick pics! None here yet, but they're on their way - another couple weeks in the 'bator. Can't wait, can't wait! Candled a few today and they're looking good so far.

I've been lurking for quite some time and have made it to around post #9200. I'm running out of stamina, but love, love, love this thread.

Thought I'd come out of lurking mode for a bit and share a couple pics - made it out there with the camera today even though the snow's a-flying. Hopefully we'll get better ones come springtime after they've filled out some. No broodies, yet - although a BCM was thinking about it and found a good hidey spot to boot. Too cold to stick with that business, though.

Here's Mighty:

He belongs to my youngest son and we have 16 of his babies in the incubator. He's a big boy and so, so calm and gentle.

Here's Drumstick:

He belongs to my oldest son - 8 of his babies in the incubator.

And a couple of the ladies ...

We're looking forward to setting more eggs from them for the Easter hatch-along.

I never thought I'd like chickens so much - so glad the boys chose Ameraucanas for their 4-H projects!

Yes and Im first on the egg list I hope lol

Can you tell the yellow skin from the picture or are you just expecting it to be yellow?

Hello, I think he was expecting but I went and looked his soles are more white with some slate. I also looked at the AM website and honestly Chickee had and shared the best pictures to really see the correct coloring. At least they were the most helpful for me. I am still learning and will be excited for another egg purchase down the road. I'll be culling him next week. Thanks everyone :)

Expecting. Most EEs have yellow skin. Very few don't. I can't tell in the picture

I didn't really have the patience to read the entire thread to see if there were any answers to my question so I'll ask directly here now.
Does any one here know of a/some "Silver Ameraucana" breeder/breeders that I could contact for buying some eggs/chicks/adults from? I've been searching for these birds for years and haven't had much success in finding good quality birds. I'm not looking to buy this spring but more like next spring. I have a new breeding coop I'm putting in and it won't be ready until at least then. (if all goes well with time and money, lol!) I'm sure hoping to put some new silvers in it when it's ready, I just need to have some contacts lined up in order to make a plan.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)
