Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I agree, in australia we don't have much information about ameraucanas so i was just guessing by her beard and muffs. Regardless of what she is she's very cute and now I get olive eggs, yay!
She is very pretty. Wish you had a way to get Ameraucanas or even eggs. But, I think I read on here that there is a different standard in Australia....or is the Aracuna? I do not have a black roo, but have three pretty black hens. I will be hatching in the next month or so and cannot wait to see what I will get. I have the Black, Blue and Spash. Then I have Lavenders. I thought I was going to have Blue Wheaten as well, but my roo failed to color out as he should have. So I have a blue tailed red to make EE's if I so choose.

It seems to be different in every country. I think Australia and the UK have similar names for the birds. This pic is what I've been told by a breeder in australia is an aracuna, and she lays light blue eggs. It's also difficult in australia because most people I come across just have isa browns or Rhode Island reds.

In a couple of weeks my Blue Ameraucana hen will be 9 months old. No eggs yet from her, while she seems the most healthy out of the trio. Really want her eggs because my other hens are black, and so is my rooster. Hopefully she'll begin in the spring, and not wait until her first birthday.

Doing a little reading this morning before church, and what do I find? This book misspelled both Ameraucana and Silkie. I mean, seriously, all it would take is a google search to find the breeders club to check on the proper spelling....

Finally get some true ams. Gettin wheaten and blacks and lavs. Looking at blue wheaten n blues too. How do ui keep lacing and proper color genes goin so they stay true ams?

Quick question...I am now the happy owner of this five month old guy....

I am searching for some girls for him...black, blues. I have lavenders growing out. Is it "acceptable" to cross a splash with a lavender since they are all the blue family? I know not to cross with wheatens...

Thanks!

I hatched out some chicks . Mild temperatures lured me into it . Now today we are buried in snow and a low of 6 predicted by morning .

I let a broody hatch last week some Wheaten Maran crosses. She's doing a good job keeping the six chicks warm. She hovers over the feed dish so they can eat and not get cold.
