I love you, DonThe very best way is with a cheap AXE.
Quote: One thing to remember is that you can breed two birds with Green sheen and still get some with Purple Sheen and all you can do is not use these for breeders. The Purple signifys some tainted Blood.
I appreciate that. You are always so direct and to the point that it kills me, but I value your advice. That's why I asked, I didn't know if I should cull the purples. I read the excerpt of the standard on the breeder's club page, but it doesn't go into nearly the detail. I like reading, and I will get the standard, but it's the quick, raw responses from you that make me want to learn more. One thing to remember is that you can breed two birds with Green sheen and still get some with Purple Sheen and all you can do is not use these for breeders. Now, if you tell me that the other thread hasn't made you laugh at least once, you are a liar![]()

Thank you so much for that. As Don said, I will do more research on my own, but it's just so easy to get quick answers herePurple can be an indicator of stress during the time the birds were growing feathers. I have also had people tell me they were feeding higher protein in their growing flock and found more purple. When they cut back the birds feathers appeared to come back greener in the next molt.
I would not be quick to judge a bird with purple unless it is fully mature and is in pristine condition.
