I have EEs and love them. Many people don't know the difference, and I learned the hard way. He is a mix, but a pretty mix, so for $0 I say you are in good shapeOk thanks so pretty much he's a mix?? Sorry new to this. Found him on the side of the road then found out she was a he. Lol just want as a family pet is it a good bird for that?
With hardly any comb development at 14 weeks old, they all look like pullets.
It is very hard to tell with Blacks, especially from pictures. There are no clear shots of the combs in the pics. The best way to tell is to start looking for pointy saddle feathers coming in on their back above the tail area. At fourteen weeks they should start showing up soon. Pick them up and start lifting the feathers of the back and see if any pin feathers are starting up. Then watch them as they develop. Are they pointy (male) or rounded (female).
