Here is a pic of my 12 week old Splash chick. I'm thinking that he is a roo. Is it too early to decide whether to keep him or not? Do his beard and muffs look adequate for this age? Thanks for any input. I have some black chicks from John Smith lines that I recently hatched that I would like to put him with.
Any one have pics of their wheaton pullets and cockerals? I have 3 chicks that are just over 6 weeks old and I still can't tell if they are male or female. I read here that the coloring was deeper on a male wheaton but all of mine look the same to me. So I guess I have all pullets or all cockerals. I tried to get a pic today but the friendlier babies kept hogging the frame! My silver ams and my delawares are so social I can't get them out of the way for a shot. If no one has pics I will try again tomorrow. I just need to put the camera hogs in a separate area for a bit.
My heart started racing when i read this post and then i googled Ringold Ga. real fast ...... i'm near Georgia but south Georgia(kinda) . Ringold is in north Georgia about as far as one can go north in Georgia . It's a long haul from deep south/west Alabama .
I've been to the shows in Dalton(north Georgia) and Ringold is even farther north like to the Tn. line .
Thanks for the update ........ i had just been to ABC earliar today and missed the post .
pips&peeps :
I just read on the ameraucana forum that the Garners are selling their ameraucana flock. No shipping, so if you live close by this might be a good chance to get some good birds.
They have wheaten, blue wheaten, and blue and black birds.
It's barely farther than Dalton- at least it seems that way when you're going south. If you could make the Dalton trip I don't think Ringold would be too bad.
Do they have an actual website? When I went through the ABC site to email them last year they never responded.
I emailed them yesterday and haven't received a reply. A page or two back someone posted the website link. I may call them today. It is about a 4.5 trip for me, and I need another chicken like I need another hole in my head! Although it is a great opportunity!!
I'm waiting for a call back from them..without a doubt as soon as we leave for the orthodontist they will call
It's only a 2.5 hour drive for me..they are just a short jump from Chattanooga and I need a splash or blue roo to go with all of these beautiful black and lonely blue pullets from Jean...of coarse I could use another blue pullet but now I'm down to just one chicken barn for rest of the Summer and possibly fall before the other is built I have to watch my chicken numbers more closely than I like.
