Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

BTW- I went back to Garner's yesterday and got some more wheaten/BW girls for Holly & I. I picked up a cute litte black pullet too to help with my lavs' egg color. They were running pretty low in the female department- so if anybody wants some you better get to it!

The cock is a pretty EE so I'd call the chicks EEs!

He is not an EE but an Ameraucana from Harry Shaffer. He is a Split Lavender that Harry breed.

Did you end up with any lavs in the hatch? That is really odd- I got chicks that color from a blue copper-ish araucana x white cochin. (banty EEs)

No Lavs just Blacks,Blues & these guys and with talking to Harry we suspect that they are reverting back to Silvers down the line a few Gens back.

Huh that little chick almost looks wheaten based very weird there is some funky stuff in Daddy's genes ha ha but very pretty! What where the parents of the off colored cock?

Lavender & Black as far as I know, but Harry said they had some other colors in the background behind them. The cock was solid black as a chick and molted out to get more color as he aged. I wasn't worried about his color since i only wanted to use him for breeding the next gen of free rangers for our egg sales. But I think he's a cool color, and the chicks are interesting.

I can see how that is a throwback to silver. It doesn't mean it's an EE- but as part of a project I think it would be a cull. The great thing about project culls with this breed is they still have the bonus of being able to be sold as EEs/colored egg layers. (unless they are culled for egg color of course)

Ahh, but he is, as he is not a standard color...but gorgeous anyway!!!

Two birds I hatched from Jeans eggs for my New Year's Hatch.

The first has multiple pictures of the best Blue Wheaten roo that I hatched, we named him "Geeves"

He is not as "'standard" as Geoffry, but he is still pretty.

OK Jean and Royce, point out the flaws...
