Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how the splash wheaten will play in a cross. If it's not on the menu "as-is" on the kipp calculator I can't figure it out at all.
I thought I had made a EE with Groovy Man a blue cochin hen, but the result is a black copper roo with a single comb. I'm thinking the wellie roo might have "snuck one in"

It is on the Kip Calculator. Just pick wheaten as the cock bird color and the fourth color from the bottom says "blue". Click it and a drop down menu will pop up and splash is listed. Click it and your bird will be a splash wheaten, picture and all.

ETA: A cross of a splash and a blue will produce only blue and splash chicks; probably with some red leakage.

Cool- thanks! I understand the BBS- just couldn't figure out how to get the wheaten in there. I am hoping to get some red of some kind when I put the SW over the salmon favs. I love blue- but when there is red/gold involved it's so much more stunning- IMO, anyway.

Still daydreaming of some blue copper marans girls

I really love the Blue Wheaten color combo too. They are my first Ameraucanas and they've been nothing but a pleasure. I think the only other Amerauana color I would ever consider would be Buffs. The pure gold color is stunning.

I plan on creating some BW Olive Eggers next year, hopefully using a Splash Wheaten Ameraucana roo over Wheaten Marans and Wheaten Penedesenca hens.

Here's Levi .It's not the best picture of him but he's such a good guy to live with. I'm waiting on about 4 more pullets to start laying before we get some Baby Levi's

Thanks! We just love him. He's a super lady protector and cuddles with our kids when they go out...can't get much better than that. His ladies are from Jean,Halo and Garners so he's got some good ones for those chicks...I'm hoping we loose the tail color but even if we don't not one person that has come here and tried to buy him has even questioned his tail.

From the APA SOP:

TAIL: Blue, some orange shafting in sickles.

Shafting - Coloring on the shaft (middle) of the feather.

So the orange in the sickle feathers is okay then?
