Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Same price as your other chicks; they still need work on type and egg color.

I'm not real impressed with most of the lav orps that are floating around at this time. They look terrible in my opinion and people shouldn't be charging what they are for an inferior bird.

Words right outta my mouth. I often sound terrible to say it, but yes, they're just as worth it as any other color. They've a long way to go, and their origin, the Orpington, has even longer to go.

An ameraucana/ee was used to create the first lavender orpington lines we see not the other way around.........

I know- I think so too. If I ever do get any it'll be when they have some English in them. If you're going to pay that much they better be awesome. The eggs are still selling like hotcakes though.

Left bottom is undoubtedly female, the other bottom one may be too. The top two are iffy, but the back one especially is quite dark. Usually a good Wheaten male already has BLACK feathers by now though, but Ameraucanas are pretty different.

Hey! Can I jump in? I've been following this thread forever. I just love this breed: looks, temperament and eggs! Right now, I have a splash Roo, a black Roo, a blue hen and a black hen. I have lav eggs in the bator and some Wheaten/Blue Wheaten eggs. And I'm needing more blue & black. I have my Pips & Peeps order form ready to send in!

Here are my little ones:

Thor, the mighty one who I wish had a bigger muff

Thor again. Why do they always take off running when you're trying to take a picture?

I'm hoping it's a decent start! Thanks for all the wonderful information on this thread. It's so great to have as a reference!

Edited to add: They are about 28 weeks old.
