Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

That is great, I was told he has some of the best after the research I have done all fall and winter.

I think I posted this before, but I'll repeat because sometimes it's a daunting task to go through all the pages of this thread. I have some very pretty (black) pullets from Paul Smith to improve my lav project. They began laying at a very young age, give me lots of eggs each week and they lay very big eggs. The color is much improved over the eggs I receive from my lav pullets. The pullets themselves have good size, great feather quality, and they are excellent foragers needing very little feed when allowed to free range (I think that particular trait is characteristic of the breed in general, though). I am pleased with them and also the pullets from Jean who have HUGE muffs and good egg color. I don't think you can go wrong either way. Don't be suprised this year folks if the chick orders are delayed due to a lingering infertile period because of the bad weather nationwide this winter. Good luck with your chicks!

When did you hatch your lavs from Harry Shaffer?

Is this what would be considered an Ameraucana Rooster? His tail feathers are missing. I was jumped on earlier for calling my other Roosters ameraucanas and firmly corrected and told they were EE!

I believe he is an Easter Egger, His color looks BBR, not Wheaten. Check his soles. Are they pink, white, yellow? Check his saddle feathers. Are they more of a yellow, or a red? He appears to have some red showing in on the chest too, often a sign of melanizers which can commonly pop up in duckwing based colors.
