so my next project is to work on a new kind of blue egg.
It will be a lot of work, but I love a challenge.... here is a preview.

How common is it for lavender Ameraucanas to occasionally throw single combs? I hatched one today that has one. It definitely wont be part of breeding, just might keep it around for eating eggs if its a pullet.

It still pops up from time to time in some lines. Since the lavenders are still technically in "project" stage, sometimes unwanted traits will pop up. It's getting less common though.

Yes, thats what I thought. Not a big deal since Im not breeding or selling anything. I just wanted a few more lavenders and set some eggs from my birds I hatched last year. Its got some hefty legs on it so it may end up dinner anyway...

You say a store will have them. . . You're SURE they're Ameraucanas?

Ameraucanas as a whole are very tolerating breed that do very well with others. With people, I hear Silvers are quite skittish, have no clue about Brown-Reds, and from my experience, - Wheatens and Blue Wheatens are friendly, Blue/Black/Splashes are very friendly, and so are Buffs. Often the larger quantity you have, the less friendly they are though.

Yeah, store is Agway. They get them from MM or something.
