Ivywoods wasn't kidding about the Silvers! My brooder is in the bathroom (the one room where all surfaces can be wiped down; the garage has a dirt floor & there's no basement), and like the chicks before them, they have been promoted from a baby brooder up to a large cardboard box that will be disposed of in a few weeks. Although the sides are about three feet high, they are flying up to the top and then out onto the floor of the bathroom where they then proceed to walk around peeping and pooping until they get bored and fly back in! [IMG] Beyond that, I caught one of them flying the length of it - she literally flew from the edge of the cardboard wall to the other end 44" away! They are only 3 weeks old! [IMG]

Here are most of them a few days ago just before they moved into the larger brooder:

I must say, I am really enjoying their antics. I admire their chutzpah.

My Wh Ameraucanas were also doing that at that age..or earlier? They were flying out of the 3 ft high box that I temporarily had them in, and once I found them all over the bed and they'd messed the sheets! They didn't even want to fly back in; they'd kick and scream when I put them back.

Quote:Thanks guys. I was afraid the blue wheatens were boys. Not having much luck getting a hen.

And Jeremy as the OE is not a pure ameraucana I am not sure I will keep her, so if you were nearer she would be yours!!
Also could you look at this post about blue wheaten marans and let me know what you think about that boy?

    Thanks!
