Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Geoffrey is SO handsome! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Can I ask a question about the comb? I have recently learned that there are different types of pea combs. What kind is this fellow's and is this the desired for Ameraucanas? All that I have at the moment are Easter Eggers and their pea combs are nothing like Geoffrey's. I know, I know, comparing a pure Ameraucana to Easter Eggers, bad idea...... but no one around here has real ameraucana's and trying to see on the computer is complicated, so when I see a good photo of a comb like this, I have to ask.

Those are some lucky ladies Mahonri!

She looks like a bantam, and I do believe she is an easter egger. Pick her up and check the bottoms of her feet, they are green........

Hi, sorry it took so long, but that is one smart bantam. There was no catching her until today. I looked at the bottom of her feet and they are yellow. What color are they supposed to be to be an Ameracauna?

Okay i was just looking at all your pretty birds and thought to my self what a neat breed. What is the easiest color to start with in these guys? Are they good with free ranging? Are they dual purpose? How are they in the winter? How are they in confinement? What is the breed website called?

Did you notice now that he's getting older, his beard is getting some white in it?

I thought they were supposed to lose the white as they age... I have a lot to learn... (how old is he?)
He has such beautiful lacing and hackles.

I have only bantam blacks, but getting some b/b/s hatching eggs next week. I just love b/b/s birds, but all of them are so pretty, I'm sure that whatever color a particular person has, they will tell you to get that one! haa haa!! This is my first winter with them. Mine are in a tractor - too many hawks and eagles to let them wander, and they do just fine!

They are supposed to be white. Your bird has yellow skin not white = EE
