Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Some of my girls finally started laying. The top right is from my Wheaten Peachick lined girl. I was not expecting it to be so dark green. The bottom ones are from my blue girl. The top left is my Welsummer pullet.
same here, I just started getting eggs from my peachick line of wheatens, dark green too

The birds I posted earlier I have by chance... just don't know if I should work with them some more or use them for easter/olive eggers.... I'm new to breeding to standard... so any feedback is useful...

I am just getting into the Ameraucana breed. Am I correct in thinking that only the colors recognized by the APA are considered true Ameraucanas and all others are EE's, even if they lay blue eggs

Perhaps we can phrase this a bit differently. There are currently 8 "recognized" colours of Ameraucanas. There are also "project" colours in development. However, not all "blue" egg layers are Ameraucanas - regardless of whether or not they fit into one of the colour categories.

I encourage you to check out www.ameraucana.org. There is LOADS of information on that site that might help clarify things for you.

She's so cute! Do you know what that color is called? Because I have some green egg layers that I was told were EE's but they look just looks that, so they must be Americans....

This one is a classic "Easter Egger". Green legs and feather pattern/colour give it away.
