I have never seen a Blue chick with chipmunk stripes. Did you get the breeders name from the Ameraucana Breeders Club breeders directory?Quick question:
I have a flock of Blue Ameraucanas. I lost my roo to a raccoon, and ordered eggs from another breeder to add onto my flock. His birds are really beautiful. So the first one just hatched, it has blue-ish down, but with chipmunk stripes. Do BBS Ameraucana chicks ever have stripes? I feel certain the chicks I hatched before did not, although it's been a while. Do I have an EE instead?
I also have Cream Legbar eggs hatching, and they're the exact same egg color, so I thought maybe he mislabeled it. But the chick has a beard, so that can't be right.
No, I got them from another BYC member. They have great feedback, and the pictures I saw looked great, beautiful dark blue birds with nice lacing. I won't say who it is. I'm curious to see the other chicks as they hatch. I guess it's possible there was an encounter with another roo? Perhaps an accident?I have never seen a Blue chick with chipmunk stripes. That is a possibility, however, there are quite a number of BYC members who will insist their birds are Ameraucanas when they are crossbred mutts. No, I got them from another BYC member. Very true!!That is a possibility, however, there are quite a number of BYC members who will insist their birds are Ameraucanas when they are crossbred mutts.![]()
Were these from the same person who bred Marans into their Lavs?I have hatched lavender with chipmunk stripes. It was because they carry silver. I would hold onto your stripey blue and see what you get. Blue silvers are pretty rare, and really beautiful.
