Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

You prolly right she has grey feet and the beard and ear puffs. I am new to chickens

She is definitely an Easter Egger, very classic EE coloring, but a very nice looking bird. Is she laying any eggs yet?

I was wanding if d uccles are smaller or larger

Bantam Ameraucanas are about 1.6-1.9lbs, whereas D'uccles tend to be 1.3-1.6lbs, though different lines have their own weight variations.

Quick question:
I have a flock of Blue Ameraucanas. I lost my roo to a raccoon, and ordered eggs from another breeder to add onto my flock. His birds are really beautiful. So the first one just hatched, it has blue-ish down, but with chipmunk stripes. Do BBS Ameraucana chicks ever have stripes? I feel certain the chicks I hatched before did not, although it's been a while. Do I have an EE instead?

I also have Cream Legbar eggs hatching, and they're the exact same egg color, so I thought maybe he mislabeled it. But the chick has a beard, so that can't be right.

I have never seen a Blue chick with chipmunk stripes. Did you get the breeders name from the Ameraucana Breeders Club breeders directory?

No, I got them from another BYC member. They have great feedback, and the pictures I saw looked great, beautiful dark blue birds with nice lacing. I won't say who it is. I'm curious to see the other chicks as they hatch. I guess it's possible there was an encounter with another roo? Perhaps an accident?

That is a possibility, however, there are quite a number of BYC members who will insist their birds are Ameraucanas when they are crossbred mutts.

Very true!!

But I can't imagine raising EEs, but then purposely trying to deceive someone by sending them pictures of someone else's Blue Ameraucanas, knowing they're going to figure it out as soon as the eggs hatch. Perhaps they also have EEs, and accidentally mixed up the eggs before shipping? There are lots of us who raise both. I don't mind putting the chick in with my EE flock, but I guess I should find a polite way of telling this person there's a problem.
