Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I just got 2 blue wheaten ameracaunas, they are almost 5 weeks old. Did I grab 2 pullets or a pullet and a cockerel? I was just looking at their combs and didn't realize the feather color gets darker in males

REALLY don't want to drive back an hour and a half!

Hmmm, the one on the right in your picture is a cockerel and the one on the left almost looks like a splash wheaten cockerel. Better let the experts call the sex on the light colored one

would comb pictures help at all or does it not matter at this age? here's a better picture of the light one

huh? Do you have a picture?
Sorry, I don't have chick pictures with close ups of combs for the different sexes. The raised bumps are called peas. They are in rows side by side. Single row for pullets, 3 rows for cockerels. It is easier to tell the roosters by a pink comb at this age. The pullet's combs will look flat and tan.
