I would just leave him alone. You don't want to handle and baby your roosters. They will lose respect for you get mean, and challenge you. He will get over being so skiddish if you leave him alone. Just be really nice to the hens, offer them a favorite snack. He will learn to be around you, and relax. Only handle him when you need to check something out on him, or do health stuff. You can still cage train for a show. If he is that rowdy, it will take some time. Give all your affections to the hen/pullets!!!!Hello! I was hoping you all could help me? I have a rooster that i just got 2 or 3 months ago ( I have him and two hens that i got at the same time. They are about 4 1/2 months old now). And i have been having some trouble with him, he is really scared of me ( i think his first owner was mean to him) the two hens are also not that friendly but he is much worse and i don't know why. I haven't had much time to play with them but they get handled at least once a day and every time i go to get him he tries to go through the fence to get away from me and when i do pick him up he screams very loud, has a melt down, and goes into his own world. Is there anything wrong with him? and Is there anything i can do to help? I'm still new to keeping chickens i have only had chickens for 8 months. What should i do?
