Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Sand Castles Farm is adding a new variety to the Ameraucana line-up. Well, actually two varieties - Blue and Splash!

I've been waiting for these eggs since I first spoke to Sharon Yorks about them last fall. She's been keeping me updated and, as soon as she had enough fresh eggs to send, off they flew from Ohio to SC. And here they are!

They are sitting for a few days to settle the air cells, then will be going into the incubator on Monday. These come out of Sharon's own line, with a few hens from Max Strawn that she got from him at the National (one went Reserve Breed at the National) added in.

I really can't wait to see my little blue and splash fluffy butts!

Ignore the egg cartons - they've been moved to a rack for a few days while the air cells settle.

Do yall know a good place to get some AMs I don't care what color but I f get some I want them to be the same and not for so much money like 15+ thanks
The most I've sold any of my day-old chicks for is $10 each and that includes shipping...and they are top of the line at that price. Price is between the buy and seller. The problem is some sellers are taking advantage of inexperienced buyers and gouging has been going on for several years that I know of.
This is just one more reason to join an ethical breed club, like the Ameraucana Alliance, to align yourself with the top breeders.

@samouw
When you let your eggs settle after shipping you keep them still, right? Did you candle and see air sack issues or do you do that on all sipped eggs ?

Well, this is the first time I've had eggs shipped here, but yes, I'm keeping them on the dresser in the guest room, so they don't accidentally jostled by the dogs, until I set them on Monday
