Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Ty Ravyn! I was going to post in the new thread that was started by Susan but because I don't show my birds I didn't feel it was appropriate ( although I really do want to breed to "standard").
Please do post... it's not about showing (though that may be referenced), it's about breeding... if that is your goal and wish to breed the best you can then it's the right place for you... :)
I don't plan on showing mine either, but I want to breed mine to standard also. Susan is a very nice person, but some personal issues are causing her a great deal of stress right now. Anyway, I'm sure if you are serious (it sounds that way to me) I'm sure it would be perfectly fine to ask that kind of question on the other thread. But of course w e like seeing your beauties here too. :)
Susan is wonderful, and will be back shortly...
@junebuggena (or anyone else who can answer) what color would you say the very light silver looking chick is? Is it blue? splash? or could the parents have been carriers of self blue? The parents are a breeding trio of a blue cockbird over one black hen and one splash hen.
That's a very light blue... notice on the back how the shade of color is lightest at the edges but as it goes towards the spine it darkens? Same with the head shot and the lighter color by the ears that darkens towards the crown? That's a blue trait in the chick down, Self Blue/Lav is much more even in shading all the way across...
Sorry, I don't know how I missed this! Thank you so much! It will be a long time to heal but I will be ready to start hatching next year. I can't wait! All of these cute chick pictures!!! They are killing me!
Hope it heals quicker than expected! Missed you around... btw, have you seen/heard from Miss Am lately???

RavynFallen, Thank you! I missed talking with you and all my friends on here. I can't believe I havn't hardly talked about chickens for over a month! I must have been bad! lol I havn't heard from Miss Am she must be buisy. Winter will be here soon and I bet she will be back.

The new thread is about showing, but it is also about genetics and breeding to the Standard. Whether your birds are ever in a show or not, these are good questions to ask, and get answered, in that thread.

Post away! :)

I may not be around as much as normal over the next few days, but I'll be here as much as I can.

Exactly! I think the guideline for that thread would be, "Is it educational about Ameraucana?" So, if you have a question about Ameraucana and think it might be helpful for other people too, please post!

I'm looking forward to when I can spend a little more time online and get back into the discussions again, soon. :)

Ty Ladies. Ok, so while we're all here. LoL

Blues.......now, when I raised and showed standard poodles (15yrs), blues have a brown cast to their coats. Im assuming this is normal in chickens too? Didn't really notice it as young chicks but do now. Could be from dirt bath but few of my blues of diff breeds are like this.

ND........decent hen? Her mother died (baby copperhead is suspected) and sadly, never got decent pics of her but my Blk Roo, Tyson is the sire. He's a big boy......6 or 7yrs old now. Is her body type too coby for a hen?

She's a crafty bird.....hard to get decent pics of her.

Tyson pictured as well

I think the brown tinge comes from sun bleaching.

So disappointed...... Please tell me that there is something dietary that can cause white skinned chicks to have yellow skin......

My Blue Am and my Bielefelder made some chicks......

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
