Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

11 days down, 10 to go in the "Great Blue Wheaten Ameraucana Hatch of 2010".

Still have 69 blue eggs in the bators. I'm hoping for at least 50 chicks maybe I'll get a couple of spectacular birds.

I think that I will be ditching the blue and splash in the AM's and work with only the lavenders. I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cynthia - I love the video! Levi is adorable!

Here's a pic of my babies from Jean. I know I have a Wheaten, a White, and a Silver cockeral - all in the lower right of the pic. Can anyone tell me if there are other for-sure cockerals in there?

Like, say, this one...is this a Blue Wheaten cockeral, or a pullet? I've never had these, so I have no idea what a Blue Wheaten boy-child would look like(?)

All those wheatens are pullets - I only see one cockerel there and it looks like you already have him pointed out.

Illia, I love you

That is just what I wanted to hear! I absolutely love these little guys (girls) - I would have had a very hard time deciding who to sell and who to keep.

(Now I feel a little bad for the person who bought 4 of them from me as babies! I'm thinking his odds are looking awfully good for mostly cockerals

Who knows,. . I know a lot of people have bad cockerel rates in straight run, but so far of all my hatches I seem to get 2 roos out of each batch of breeds or color varieties. Talk about perfection!

(although sometimes I want more, to choose the best from a bigger variety)

Wheaties are indeed hard to sex at too young of age though, often pullets can look pretty dark and convincing, but once they fully feather they're really easy.
