Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

No, her name is Julie. She's also here in the Bay Area. I'm waiting to hear back from her on where she obtained her stock from. They look like gorgeous birds. Big full muffs, a nice clean white color. I am very excited.

from FLF: This has been an exciting week for me! Took a couple birds to the Uniontown show (my first time "showing" chickens). Had lots of fun, met some really nice people, and my favorite black Ameraucana hen received BV the first show and BV and BB the second show. Not that there were a ton of Ameraucanas there, but it was fun none the less

FLF -- I went to the Uniontown show & saw your baby. She's verrry pretty! Colldd! Left early... Glad she got noticed by the judges: )

I was hoping to see more Americaunas shown. Maybe next year. I've got Lavender Bantam Ameraucana peeps. Not a recognized color, I guess.

cheers!

Yes, it was cold and miserable wasn't it? I wish there had been more Amerucanas too! I really liked how they had 2 shows run on the same day, so we got to oppions for the work of one. I was just happy I wasn't onnly competing against myself, lol. I think I wound up with a BB, 2 BV, 4 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 thirds overall.

I have 2 Lavender babies, and 5 split or black babies safely out of eggs, with 3 more pips, and 2 more eggs wiggling.... Can't wait to get home from work and see what else has hatched from Jeans eggs.

Hi, I am just joining this thread. I have just a few pretty Wheaten Ameracaunas who lay lovely deep blue eggs. They are a little small (the eggs not the hens) but very pretty.

I am hoping to get some more of the very deep blue eggs to hatch. I don't really mind mixing the Wheatens with another color of Ameracauna if I can get the deep blue eggs.

I have two little chicks out of them. I think one is a roo and one a pullet but not sure.

Sigh. Wish I could keep them laying instead of constantly going broody.

I just wanted to post a few pics of my new chickies

This one is such a sweetheart, after having her just a few days she became pals with my to EE chicks and they stick together when out in the yard. I've had them since they were a day old and they come running and hop up on my lap as soon as I sit down, and she does too!

The second lavender one I refer to as "the naughty one." He is a little bigger than the other lavender (I just call this one 'he'even though I don't know if it's male or female, maybe because 'he' is so naughty!), and his/her comb is different, its wider whereas the other one's comb is very narrow. He is super hard to catch when I let them out in the yard, I'm sure I gave my neighbours a good laugh yesterday as I followed him around with a laundry basket (which I never even got a chance to try an catch him with, he just zipped in the open door and I cornered him in the kitchen!). I feel so bad chasing him/her around, I don't want him/her to be scared of me

Any suggestions for good treats to bribe him/her with? I've tried to give them yogurt and strawberries, but they didn't seem to realise that those things were edible. I want to make friends and have him/her like me! Today we sat and watched TV together for a while..
