Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I'm not speaking from experience breeding Ameraucanas but have never liked introducing unwanted recessive traits into a project if there's any way to avoid it . Most white Ameraucanas are recessive white , black is dominate but may be masking recessive colors likely to surface as bleed in the silvers , so I too would love to hear from an experienced breeder .

Some new photos from this morning. These are from my BW pair. My wheaten hen has gone back to laying too. Eggs are for sale, listed in the auction forum.

ok so i am getting some Blue Ameraucanas, and in canada most of the Ameraucanas lay blue/green eggs, so if i only hatch the blue eggs and not the green eggs, will the resulting hens lay blue eggs. i am sort of basing this throry on the brown eggs, but i have no clue.

It's a good plan- hope you get lots of blue ones! Unless you want to do a seperate hatch of the green ones and band them as EEs and sell them. Or keep them and make olive eggers. That's what I'm doing with my less-than-good ones

You can not get onto the forum on the ABC website, unless you are registered.

The trick in breeding...you may get the best blue egg out there, but find the standard of the bird suffers in that pursuit. It is a trial and error course...it takes a lot of time, and a lot of patience. I love the Ameraucana breed. I have silvers that are gorgeous...but I will keep them separate from my blacks. If I wanted to strengthen the silver line...my understanding is I could use the black over. (Not absolutely certain on this.) There is a lot to learn...and of course we can all help each other become more informed.

does anyone have blue wheaton in bantam size!?

I initially wanted to start off an Ameraucana flock with Lavs, Buff, AND Blue wheaton... but now I will just settle if someone has/is willing to make me some fertile eggs for hatching out blue wheatons alone. I've been looking for a while now and I can't find ANYONE with bantam BWs!
