Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

No one else has any ideas or comments? I also thought about Dun Ameraucanas but I can't start a huge long term project with college lingering!

I would love to see mottled ones. Isn't there someone in the south with LF mottleds?
Hi,
I have six two week old Wheatons I hatched out. I must say, they all look alike right now. The breeder said that at about three weeks I could tell if I had girls or boys. Is there any tell tale signs at an early age?

Dark feathers on the back, or back of the neck. Unless you have a splash wheaten- then they can fool ya.

TK,
One should not consider the Dun gene since the Chocolates are on the horizon and I am sure there will be someone who will take on that task because of the color.

Mason Creek Farms was working on Mottled Am's, not sure if they are anymore. My daughters have a some stock for a mottled bantam ameraucana project. And they plan to start an F1 cross in the spring.

I knew about the Mottled Large Fowl but not about any Mottled Bantams! I was thinking of starting this project in 2011 but don't want to get overwhelmed! I was also tossing around Mahoganey(sp?)/Red and Dun Bantams

I would really love to see someones red am's project....I loved seeing miss prissy's red orp project, that was a while ago.....I don't know if she is still working on that?

My F1 Split Lavender Wheatens are starting to "redden" up. They are 26 weeks today, though I'm not really getting eggs from anyone right now. So I'll have to be patient a while longer.
