Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I think that cutie pie is a cockerel Tricia. Usually I have found with my birds that if they have any pink around 6-8 weeks they are boys. The girls I have had didn't get any pink until nearing POL. All of the chicks I've had were black and lavender, I don't know if it's different for the other varieties though. Most people say that you have to wait until much older, but I have been near 100% at the 6-8 week range, or I do have to wait until later if I miss my window.

I had a tree fall on my Wheaten pen earlier this winter. I was lucky that non of chickens were crushed. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.

I have chickens running every where too, I've left everyone free ranging till I can get the fencing back up in the spring.

Yeah its rough but maybe I can get some more whites and maybe buffs over spring break. I should have my pen fixed by the end of the week. Oh plus I'm in the market for a new bbs rooster because in our excitement he was eaten by a coyote! Grr! So I have some rebuilding to do

Gosh, yes you have had a bad week. So sorry to hear this. It's been a rough winter. Here in Kansas we have been dealing with terrible weather....snow, wind, drifting, -30-40 wind chill, now rain and wet coops and another snowstorm on the way.

Yeah its pretty cold and they were kinda mad when I took this because it just started raining. That was the beginning of our huge icestorm where we got like 1.5-2inches of ICE! then 5 inches of snow and now its snowing as we speak!

Oh and Thank you!

Anyone here know of, have experience with, or simply have stock from Jim Fegan? Talk about amazing birds in rare colors, and those muffs! Yeesh! Went looking for people with LF Silvers and Brown-Reds, and came across his birds from the 2010 National Meet. . .
